00290 / trnitá palace
location: Trnitá and Opuštěná Streets, Brno-Trnitá, South Moravian Region, Czech Republic
client: EUROPARK – FP
project: 2010–
built-up area: 6700 m2
floor area: 46000 m2

Trnitá Palace is located in an important development area of Brno called the South Centre. It is designed as a multifunctional urban house inspired by palaces from the inter-war era (Wiesner’s Morava Palace or Fuchs’s Alfa Palace). The house fills in the respective area with classical form of eight-floor block with a clear functional division: an exceeding two-floor parterre serves mainly for commercial use; the inner block contains parking for visitors and residents, and the technical facilities of the house. On floors 3–8, there are apartments of various categories and sizes from 1-room up to duplex penthouses. A roof terrace in the inner block is an added value of the house, enabling it to be used for sports and recreation by the inhabitants. The whole volume of the building consists of a homogenous material – facing bricks which together with the spatial solution are giving the whole design a certain ”timelessness” and ”durability”.
